BenefitsOS: FAQs & AI Preview
We answer frequently asked questions about the next evolution of our product and tease some of the new AI capabilities we're launching.
There's been a lot of excitement about BenefitsOS, and for good reason – this next evolution of our product expands Noyo automation across the full policy lifecycle. We sat down with Nicole Shelby, Senior Product Manager at Noyo, to address frequently asked questions and preview some of the AI-powered features we’re working on.

What is BenefitsOS?
BenefitsOS is a major expansion of our product. Our core capability has always been seamless fulfillment of member enrollment changes across our network of insurance carriers. Now, we’re expanding our APIs and UI to cover not only fulfillment, but the full post-sale group lifecycle: case setup, plan configuration, carrier connections, enrollment and member management, data reconciliation, and renewal.
How is Noyo using AI within BenefitsOS?
Many ways, and this is just the beginning. BenefitsOS is leveraging the latest AI technology to enhance carrier capabilities and streamline otherwise manual processes for brokers and ben-admins. Here's some examples:
Simplified EDI error reports: AI analyzes and interprets carrier error reports, no matter the carrier or error report format. Errors are translated into clear, natural language and categorized, making it easier for ben-admins and brokers to identify and resolve issues.
Automated plan data extraction: AI parses group and plan documents, such as SBCs, to extract key plan build data and translate it to a standardized structure (e.g. LDEx BCM) so it can be delivered automatically. This eliminates manual plan building and allows for seamless data transfer via API.
Intelligent account structure mapping: AI automatically maps employee data to carrier account structures, interpreting and applying carrier rules. This simplifies the process, even for complex account structures where human input may still be needed – groups can be ready for enrollment much faster.

Is Noyo launching ben-admin?
No. We are NOT launching a ben-admin, but we are here to help you launch one! We’ll continue to partner with established ben-admins to modernize and optimize their experiences. We’re also excited to work with more platforms looking to offer benefits administration in their software, for example, HR, payroll, and talent management platforms that want to be an all-in-one solution.
Companies who want to offer a modern benefits experience today have to invest far too many resources building complex, undifferentiated back-end infrastructure – databases, carrier integrations, operational tooling, rules and logic, and more. Our vision is that BenefitsOS will eliminate all of this complexity so anyone who wants to innovate in our space has a modern foundation to build on.
How will BenefitsOS work?
At its core, BenefitsOS will expand our API and UI to offer more endpoints and tools that support the complete group lifecycle, from plan config to enrollment to renewal. It will also allow Noyo to connect any group to any carrier much faster, and with little involvement from platforms/carriers. That means Noyo can support a platform's full book of business, and a carrier can offer a simpler, more automated experience to any platform.
Some of the exciting new capabilities we're building include:
AI tools that make structured plan configuration data instantly available via API. We'll also integrate directly with carrier APIs where possible.
AI-powered account structure mapping that understands and applies carrier rules to ensure enrollments go through with no issues
Multiple points of integration with a given carrier (API, EDI, custom files, etc) and intelligent routing to determine the best available connection, like a switchboard for connecting groups to carriers
AI tooling that parses carrier error reports and census data to provide detailed statuses, round-trip confirmation, and standardized errors for any carrier
How does BenefitsOS impact carriers?
First, distribution. Many platforms entering the space are choosing Noyo to power their end-to-end ben-admin experience (reach out to see our full platform network). Carriers in the Noyo Network have a first-mover advantage on these emerging platforms that they otherwise may not be able to support or simply might miss out on. We also make it easy to connect to established ben-admins in our network who are looking to grow their book of business or step into new verticals.
Second, is ease of doing business. BenefitsOS removes manual work and complexity from key processes, helping carriers offer a better experience for ben-admins, group admins, and brokers. Some examples of this include:
Plan Configuration: Setting up plans in a ben-admin system is often slow and error-prone. BenefitsOS integrates with carrier APIs and uses AI-powered plan parsing to extract and structure plan data, reducing setup time from weeks to days (or even minutes).
Error Handling: EDI error reports are difficult to interpret, causing delays in resolving discrepancies. BenefitsOS uses AI to standardize these reports into clear, actionable insights, helping ben-admins and group admins fix issues faster with less back-and-forth.
Intelligent Routing: Managing which groups are eligible for which carrier connections is complex and requires significant engineering effort when carriers make changes. BenefitsOS automatically determines the best connection type – API, EDI, or other methods – reducing complexity and accelerating group activation. This makes it easy for platforms to adopt carrier APIs because there is zero configuration work required, they just “flip a switch” in the Noyo app.
Can carriers join the Noyo Network if they don’t have APIs?
Yes, of course! We can exchange data with carriers in their preferred format whether that’s API, EDI, LDEx, or something else. Carriers join our network to expand distribution with ben-admin platforms and to deliver a better experience to their brokers and partners. We’ve helped a lot of carriers build and launch APIs, but we don’t require them to have APIs in any way. We meet carriers where they are today and help them enable advanced connectivity, no matter the systems in place.
We hope this gets you excited about BenefitsOS and the new features we’re building. Join our spring Roadmap Release webinar on April 22nd to dive deeper into the product. Or reach out to our team here to get your questions answered.
